Day One was a belter!

Fantastic scenery, fantastic company and fantastic rolling riding through vineyards.

What a start to this adventure. After several beers and some hearty food last night with everyone promising themselves not to over-do things before the riding…Yep you guessed it. There were some sore heads and ginger movements first thing this morning. What better way to blow away the cobwebs than a mass ride out with your mates on a beautiful part of the world.

I’m not sure why the City of Reims has a large blue Penguin outside of the railway station but it seemed like a good place to gather before we set of. It is surreal but the evidence is presented to you.

We were in somewhat of a rush as we had an amazing experience of a VIP tour of the House of Taittinger champagne headquarters and cellars arranged by/for own Mr Mathews. A fabulous time which was educational and fun and involved us drinking several lovely bottles of their famous product. Delicious! Not all of them were as large as the one I was invited to try in the cellar. It was tempting to try to drink them dry but with 2 million bottles beneath our feet it was too intimidating for even us to try.
